Scientists Train AI to Be Evil

We recently heard an interview with John Mulaney where he said he didn’t think AI could replace a stand-up special, because there is a profound difference between hearing a joke from a human and hearing a joke from a robot. But it could, perhaps, write the 14th joke in an awards show monologue.

Now, we’re not John Mulaney. And you’re not John Mulaney. (Wait, are you?) But we’ve been applying this thought logic to our own careers. Absolutely, AI can replace bits of it. But not the parts that need a soul. The necessary modern ability is identifying which is which.

Scientists Train AI to Be Evil, Find They Can’t Reverse It

We’ve never met a fork with fewer than a dozen prongs. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Fork-in-the-road kind of thinking. We tend to play out 12 different routes. Where might they lead? Why go this way and not that way? It’s why we’re glad scientists are fiddling around with evil AI. Might as well play it out so we know what to watch out for.

The Secret Behind Proper AI Market Forecasting (and Why So Many Get This Wrong)

[Partner] Big question: How is generative AI impacting the strategies of financial traders worldwide? We don’t know. But the experts at VantagePoint do. They’re hosting a one-hour virtual session that takes a live look at the markets, the forecast, and at least four stocks or option trades to keep an eye on. I.e., what’s ready to explode and what to avoid. VantagePoint’s software forecasts the markets one-three days in advance with up to 87.4% proven accuracy (which has been third-party tested and verified). Join the session and see why VantagePoint offers traders more confidence than ever.

Researchers Have Developed an AI Tool That Can Closely Imitate Your Handwriting Style

We have three handwriting styles. The first is simple, all-cap, block letters. Useful for things like addressing a letter. Pure function. Legibility over everything. The second is a scribble unreadable by anyone except us. Useful for journaling absurd daily thoughts. The third is our script. Useful for formal presentation via written word. You’re telling us AI can handle all that?

Google Is Reportedly Adding an AI Voice Feature

Talk to text already exists. You probably use it all the time via text messaging. This is like that on steroids. Instead of dictating, you’re directing. E.g., “Write an email thanking the host of a dinner party I went to last weekend.” Then, it’ll create an email draft for you that you can edit. And you should edit. The personalized joke will still be up to you.

Sh*t’s About to Get Real Weird

What a Texan looks like, according to AI. Gifting an AI-generated image. What humans will do better than AI, according to Sam Altman. This AI-generated 1950s TV commercial for a creepy puppet theme park. Could AI be the last thing humans invent? Cats who joined tough street gangs showing off their bling in these funny AI-generated images. Will AI make our brains immortal?
